CLOSING!!!!!

We close on our house tomorrow! We are so excited. I feel like it is the night before Christmas.

I tell you, buying a house has to be the most stressful time in a person's life. I never thought we would get here, but here we are. This is a dream come true and I can't wait to begin the next chapter of our lives.

Wish us luck!

Missing that Christmas Magic

Note to self: In the future, do not plan on a big move before the holidays.

Our house looks like a box factory. We are trying to be proactive in packing up our house. Logical, right? Organized, practical. Well, I hate it. I need my Christmas decorations. I need my big ornament filled lighted tree, my stuffed snowmen, my Santa candles, my silver reindeer. I love my home to look like the North Pole. Since things are getting packed up, it made more sense to leave the Christmas decorations packed away. We would have had to unpack them all just to pack them back up again. I know that makes sense, but I still hate it.

My husband knows this about me. He was distraught at my sadness at the lack of Christmas. Now, I know that Christmas is not all about the decorations, but they make me happy. So, we went out and bought a little 1 foot tree that came with little ornaments. I just love it. We call it our "Believe" tree. Keeping positive about all the new house nonsense - all we have is a little faith. Just believe.

Pinterest

A few months ago, I discovered my little slice of heaven - a website called "Pinterest". If you haven't heard of it, I highly suggest a visit. It is amazing. I consider it my dream board. Recipes, clothing, makeup and beauty ideas, crafts, wisdom, humor, DIY, home decor, you name it, Pinterest has it. I especially love the quotes. They make me laugh, make me think, inspire me.

La Liz was quite a lady. A little lipstick and a cocktail can fix any problem.

Adventures in Home Buying

The hubbs and I are in the process of buying a house. My first house, by the way. Within a span of a week, we got pre-approved for our mortgage, hired a real estate agent, saw some homes, fell in love, made an offer, got accepted, got and passed an inspection, hired an attorney, signed contracts and gave a boatload of money to said attorney. Whew.
Now, the real work begins. The official loan application and appraisal are coming up and both could put some possible wrenches in our plans. We are so impatient, the waiting game is killing us. It's a scary thing, a huge commitment, and I just cannot wait to be a homeowner. Every day that goes by feels like an eternity.
Looking ahead and trying to be proactive, we decided to start purging the attic. Now, I cannot accurately describe the state of our attic currently. Over the last 4 years, when we couldn't decide what to do with something, up to the attic it went. Out of sight, out of mind. Going through the attic today reminded me of a an episode of Hoarders. Why do we keep such crap? We found 4 comforters, 2 coffee makers, 3 large CD racks, a box of VHS tapes, boxes from products we no longer own and tons of miscellaneous stuff. It felt good to get rid of so much, it was cleansing.
I am not by nature a very organized person. I know it drives the hubbs crazy, but his need for "a place for everything" drives me bananas as well. But I love a good cleaning, and I get such satisfaction seeing bags and bags of junk go out the door!
Keep your fingers crossed for us!

True Story.

Has it been 4 years?!?!

So, I'm cleaning up the old laptop, and I stumble across my username and login for blogger. I had totally forgotten about this blog!
All good things abound! The man in the photo 2 posts down? We are married now, almost 6 months. My perfect match, the man of my dreams. We have built a nice life together, and so many amazing things are on the horizon.

I'm back. I remember how much I enjoyed posting. Jumpin' back in!
