remember you?

the time will come
when, with elation,
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror,
and each will smile at the other's welcome,
and say, sit here. eat.
you will love again the stranger who was yourself.
give wine. give bread. give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you
all your life, whom you ignored
for another, who knows you by heart.
take down the love letters from the bookshelf,
the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.
sit. feast on your life.

but because truly being here is so much; because everything here
apparently needs us, this fleeting world, which in some strange way
keeps calling to us. us, the most fleeting of all.

sleepless in new york

1 am
finding myself here again and again
i can hear the wind beating the windows
fighting shouting shaking
finally silence conceding escaping to the whisper of you
come on baby
keep me far away
keep me tucked inside you
keep me frightened
keep me safe
keep a place inside for me

the streets are full though silent
stars and moon hidden behind wicked blinding lights of broadway
i thought i saw you weaving through the crowds
head up eyes heavy
and down i fell
come on baby
keep me burning inside
keep me cold as stone
keep me as far down as i can go
keep me high as air
keep a place inside for me

its not so hard to fall here
but i gotta know where i'll land
its not so hard to breathe here
just gotta remember to exhale
exhale

come on baby
keep a place inside for me

world's shortest fairy tale

Hurray for all us single girls out there!!

Once upon a time, a girl asked a guy "Will you marry me?" The guy
said,
"NO!"
And the girl lived happily ever after and went shopping, dancing,
drinking,
always had a clean house, never had to cook, and never had a headache.

THE END

george carlin is a wise man

my sister sent this to me...george carlin's views on how to have a happy life. I try and remember these every day, they are difficult, but i know in my heart that this is completely, absolutely the truth.

HOW TO STAY YOUNG
1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height.
Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay "them "

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.

3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening,
whatever. Never let the brain idle. "An idle mind is the devil's
workshop." And the devil's name is Alzheimer's.

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.

6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who
is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love, whether it's family, pets,
keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable,
improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.
9 Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the
moments that take our breath away.
